A large round Roman Glass pendant, suspended from an assortment of 3 chains (Sterling Silver, oxidized Sterling Silver and Rose Gold-fill). The chains are connected to the centerpiece with two sparkling peridot beads. Overall length is 19 inches long with an extender chain allowing it to be worn up to 22 inches long. Finished off on one end with an oxidized Sterling Silver lobster clasp and a signature heart charm on the other.
This substantial piece of Roman Glass appears to be the base of a vessel, which was very commonly used across the Roman Empire. It is a pale green color, covered with a patina that tells the story of its ancient beginnings and the centuries buried under the soil in what is now Northeast Afghanistan. One side has a beautiful shimmering rose mineralization and the other has more iridescent rainbow of colors among the encrustation. The medallion is almost 3 inches across.
Special care must be taken with this 2,000 year old piece of antiquity. It is not an everyday piece of jewelry. Do not wear it where it will get wet (bathing, swimming, etc) or attempt to wash it. Do not attempt to clean it with a cloth or any solutions. The precious colors and patina could wash away. Keep it away from any abrasive materials.
