Ann Marie Hodrick and Marie Johnson are the designers behind Heart's Desire Jewelry. They met about 10 years ago when their kids were going to school together and have been friends with a shared passion for jewelry design ever since. They live in Oakland, CA where their true love for design and adornment brought them together to create Heart’s Desire Jewelry.
The designers are both proud members of the IFCSF (Innovative Fashion Council San Francisco) and love being a part of their local fashion and art community. They are pleased to present their unique, handcrafted treasures and hope that you can find your true heart's desire here.
Ann Marie is an award winning designer that finds inspiration in the colors and textures of nature. She cherishes old jewelry parts as much as she adores keeping an eye on what’s current in fashion. Those inspirations mix together in a style that expresses itself in many lights…from vintage to modern…organic to graphic. No matter which muse is speaking to her, the result is always stylish. Ann Marie shares her love of jewelry as editor of the Fashion Jewelry site at BellaOnline.com.
Marie claims to have been a magpie in a former life because she can’t help herself around shiny, sparkly objects. Her style tends to be classic and elegant with a modern twist thrown in for fun.
Ann Marie and Marie care greatly about the world that we live in and the people in it. Our first choice is to purchase our supplies from socially responsible vendors. Many of our gems are cut by a family run business in Jaipur with whom we have a close relationship. We only use .925 sterling silver and .999 fine silver and are aware that the mining of most new precious metals negatively impacts the environment and the cultures surrounding the mines. Because of that, we now buy our silver wire and sheet metal from vendors who sell refined (recycled) silver and we collect our scraps to be refined so that we can help to minimize our effect on the environment and promote a healthier world.
